I.S.S.O. Seva Community Health Fair :
I.S.S.O. Seva established in September, 2005 under the guidance of His Holiness 1008 Shri Koshalendraprasadji Maharajshree continuous to provide free healthcare nationwide.
ISSO Seva’s Community Health Fair provides information for planning, implementing, evaluating, preventing, and managing health diseases. The health fair’s purpose was to heighten awareness of common health problems among community members and satsangis, increase access to primary care services, and provide diagnostic services to the medically underserved community of Pontiac, Michigan.
ISSO health experts cared for 75 patients during a 3 hour health fair on August 15th, 2009 during the 5th Patosav of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir. Free screenings, hemoglobin, glucose, cholesterol testing were readily available. 25 glucometers with testing strips were given out for free to newly diagnosed diabetic participants.
The medical and non-medical volunteers were a critical part of the fair, because they allow Seva Health Fairs to serve in communities and mandirs at no cost to participants and satsangis. Nonmedical volunteers help with registration, vision testing, height & weight measurements throughout the duration of the fair. Medical volunteers perform blood draws as needed as well as nurses, physician assistants and other medical personal provide evaluations and screenings, and respond to health questions and make referrals to local resources as needed.
