HISTORY:
Satsang activities were started in 1972 by Shankarlal Parekh, Moolshankar Joshee and Dhoribhai Patel who were the pioneers in building up Satsang Activities in Birmingham. Sunday Sabhas and ‘Samaiyas’ were conducted at various houses and hired halls with a handful of devotees.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj first visited Birmingham in 1974, then 1977, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1990, 1994 and most recently in 2000. On 23rd September 1990, Pramukh Swami Maharaj opened the ‘Satsang Bhavan’, as a Hari Mandir at Ivor Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham. Due to the growth of satsang in Birmingham and with the blessings of Swamishri, a new site was purchased in July 2002. The same murtis which were consecrated by Swamishri in 1990 were moved to the new premises in a special ceremony on 18 April 2004. Birmingham mandal also provides "SAYA" catering services for weddings and parties in the Midlands.
