ABOUT US:
The making of Chutney Villa has been a labor of love. From the constantly reinvented menu, to the carefully chosen decor, to the hit Tamil film CD that you hear in the background, the Villa has been pieced together from memories, fantasies, and many visits to India.
Hailing from South India, Chindi Varadarajulu is the creator and chef of Chutney Villa. Her talent and creativity in the kitchen was first appreciated by her many friends and close family over hearty Indian dinners, infused with love. With years of experience in the restaurant industry and a passion for cooking, Chindi’s natural next step was to open up a restaurant that would introduce Vancouver to the unique flavors of South Indian cuisine.
Chindi’s enthusiasm for the cuisine and culture of her native land is infectious. Our team at the Villa shares her zeal for Indian food, fashion, and most importantly, the famous Indian hospitality. Our motto at Chutney Villa is “food can fill a stomach, but it takes love to quench an appetite.” The food, service, and ambience at the Villa is filled with warmth and energy, and we hope to make your eating-out experience feel completely at home.
CULINARY TOURS:
There are few things better than good food and exotic travel, and one of them is good food and travel combined. Every once in a while, Chutney Villa’s owner and chef, Chindi Varadarajulu packs her apron into a suitcase to embark on a cultural and culinary tour of India, and you’re welcome to join her. She’s proud of her heritage, and feels lucky to have this chance to show off the beauty and culture of her homeland.
Born into a South Indian Family living in Singapore, among Indian, Malay and Chinese communities, surrounded by Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and Christian traditions, Chindi knows all the little Indian stories and superstitions that will make your trip a particularly auspicious one. She knows that if you have an itch in your feet, it means you’ll be traveling soon!
